We want Jesus to be found in both our activity and our conversation. As we live out our faith in everyday life, we are actively involved in our neighbourhood. The trust and relationship that we have built with our downtown partners, allows us to collaborate and serve in ways that meet real needs, enhance their opportunities and share our hope. We would love to see you join with us and get involved.
Central's Street Teams is reaching out to our community with friendship, prayer and the Gospel message. Our hope is to see people renewed through the Gospel and brought to saving relationship with Christ. We serve Tuesday and Thursday evenings starting at 6:00 pm. "Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God." 2 Corinthians 5:20 If you are interested in helping out the Street Teams ministry, please contact Lucas or call the church office.
Serve Our City
Throughout the fall and winter, Central will be engaged in a variety of service projects in and with our community. Please watch the worship folder for updates on the latest opportunities.
Next Serve Our City Community Event - Saturday May 14, 2016
If you have any creative ideas for ways Central can serve and show kindness, or have any questions, please contact Pastor Kevin or 250-385-7786.
Community Kitchen educates local families on how to make low cost, healthy meals while also providing child care. This is a fantastic way to serve with our neighbours. We learn together, play together, and eat together.
George Jay School
Our partnership with George Jay has been a special relationship. Through the staff and parents of George Jay, a number of clubs and other opportunities to volunteer have been initiated. There are weekly opportunities such as:
- Helping students 1 on 1 to learn to read and do math.
- In the Fall Central volunteers have led a school choir once a week with a December performance.
- Running the morning Toast Club to make toast and serve students who need a breakfast.
- Central volunteers lead a Knitting Club once a week.
- We are looking for volunteers who could lead an after school sports club and a creative builders club.
There are other opportunities throughout the year, so please contact the office if you’re interested and available to help.
Artemis Place is an integrated counseling and educational program that provides a unique alternative to traditional school for at-risk girls in our community who are overlooked by existing programs. Central has been a partner with Artemis for the past few years. We’ve helped in a few ways, including work projects, First Home Hampers, and providing birthday cakes for each of the girls.
These are just a few ways we support our community. If you would like to volunteer, call the church office or speak with Pastor Kevin Thiessen.
