Women

At Central, women have opportunities to grow in their relationship with Jesus, build meaningful friendships, encourage one another, and serve both within the church and our community. Whether you're looking for a Community Group, a Bible study, or other ways to get connected, we'd love to help you find your place.

Not every connection happens through a formal ministry or program. In addition to the opportunities listed below, several informal groups of women meet for prayer, book discussions, coffee, fellowship, and simply spending time together.

If you're looking for a group or would simply like to meet other women at Central, contact Marilyn at mmiller2520@gmail.com to find out what's currently happening.

UVic Young Women's Group

Who were you created to be? What gives your life meaning and purpose?  Who is God and where do you fit in this world?

If you have ever asked these questions, we’d love to invite you to join our  at UVic Young Women’s Group.  This is your chance to explore and to discover the person you were created to be through conversations about identity, purpose, faith and God’s love. Whether you are simply curious or looking to connect with other students, you are welcome to come join us.

We meet once every two weeks in a common area at the University. Check out the posters in the Student Union Building for location and time or contact Marilyn at mmiller2520@gmail.com.

Book Groups

If you enjoy reading, Women's Book Groups offer a chance to explore Christian books with other women in a welcoming small-group setting. Groups meet every five to six weeks between October and June to discuss each book, pray together, and encourage one another.

Groups are open to women of all ages, with daytime and evening groups available. You can join at any time during the year.  More information on Book Clubs is available here.

Hug-A-Bear

Hug-A-Bear brings comfort to children experiencing crisis by creating small handmade bears that are shared through local organizations and international ministry partners.

Volunteers trace, cut, and sew bear shells at home, then gather twice a month to stuff the bears, finish them, and pray for every child who will receive one. No special skills are needed to join the twice-monthly gatherings—there are opportunities for everyone to help.

Bears are distributed through organizations including The Cridge Transition House, Samaritan's Purse, Compassionate Resource Warehouse, and short-term mission teams.

When: First and Third Mondays at 10:00 am (except holiday Mondays)

Where: Room 235

Donations: Poly-cotton and flannelette fabric donations are always welcome.
